Roof Measuring/Math

Course Description:  This course is a live, instructor led, 2-day training class created exclusively for property adjusters and roofing estimators/salespersons who are employed with an insurance company, independent adjusting company, restoration company, reconstruction company, roofing company, or independent adjuster.  This course includes both lecture and exercises on how to properly measure and calculate materials for traditional residential roofs without relying on aerial software.   Roof math historically utilized by insurance companies is a key learning skill of this class.   This class was created in response to current industry trends where most new property adjusters and roofing estimators have not been taught how to manually measure and calculate roofing materials.  Instead, today’s estimators are relying more and more on buying aerial imagery software reports, even for simple and traditional roof designs, to write estimates.  Often these types of roofs can be measured and calculated accurately in just a few extra minutes with the proper techniques which were once common to all property adjusters and estimators before aerial imagery technology was created.   Sadly, this skill has become lost among many new field personnel and the result is the industry is paying for aerial reports on many roofs which could be manually calculated.

Prerequisites:  While the focus of the class is not on using software (e.g. Xactimate) to measure roofs, it is helpful to have Xactimate experience and bring a laptop with the software installed as the class will build basic estimates from our manual calculations.  This class is open to property adjusters and estimators, regardless of experience, who could benefit from learning this skill.

Added Benefit:  Complimentary snacks and beverages are provided each day with this course.

Instructor:  Trent Massey

Tuition:  $175 per person.

Dates:  Due to Covid-19 we will be switching this class to an online live format.   Please check back for future dates.
